Appearance: He is a strongly built horse, of mostly mustang blood. However there is a hint of other breeds in him, which show in his structure. He has a pitch black coat with no markings, along with a long black and brown mane. His mane and tail are both mixed between chocolate brown and black, but they are so well blended from a distance it appears pitch black. His eyes are a deep, soft chocolate color, and with no markings he is surely a beast to behold. However, due to being captured by humans his coat is riddled with scars from being whipped and abused.

Personality: Never the one to miss a herd meeting, Strider is responsible. He led his herd alongside Esperanza for as long as he could. He is fierce and strong willed, however he does have a gentle and understanding side; especiallyto those in his herd. He is very protective of his family and friends and all the members of his herd, and will do anything to protect them. His weakness, is in fact Esperanza. He always softens to her will and will do anything for her. His other weakness are the little ones; he loves them to bits, and often can be seen playing around with them like a foal at heart. He knows they arethe future of his herd, and will stop at nothing to make sure they have the best. Finally, one fear he has is that his son, Spirit, will reject him for not being there in his younger days, even if it was against his will. Finally, one quirk about him is that he does enjoy swimming or wading in rivers and lakes.

History: Strider was born in the wild, and grew up alongside Esperanza. Together they played and frolicked until one day their herd was seperated. Being a teenager, Striderwent off to start his own herd. Soon, Esperanza came with a few mares to join him. Together they formed what would be the Cimarron herd. They always dreamed of a grassy field of endless green pastures, and when at last they found it.. they found they were not alone. They found odd things; smoke in the distance, fire eating the trees. With Esperanza newly pregnant, Strider had no choice but to go off to defend his land. Thus came his first encounter with man. He found them, burning trees, and chased them out. But they came back with horses, who seemed to pity him even as they brought the humans towards Strider. Strider couldn't understand why his own kind would betray him as theythrew ropes around him and led him to a camp. There he met the general, who watched as Strider fought the men. Strider did not break, until he was left with no food or water. Finally, he broke. The next day the general rode him for the first time, biting spurrs into his hide. Strider did not want to obey, but for the moment he had to do just that. The following weeks, asthey tried to brand him, he bucked the mantrying to brand him, thus avoiding that fate. That strength at finding he could in fact fight back made him hungry to escape. Hefought back as hard as he could, though man punished him with a whip and spurrs. Finally, one day, Strider managed to pretend he was dead.. In fact he was so exhausted and beaten he couldn't have gotten up if he tried. They took him out to the desert to beshot, where he found renewed strength. He got up, kicked them and took off. He found himself running for days. Little did he know his son had just been taken prisoner as he had left. He found his way back to his herd, and found his old life was indeed waiting for him. But when he saw Spirit was gone, an emptiness filled him. The herd told stories of how he had been captured, and Strider felt guilty for not staying longer to rescue his only son. Torn between his old home and his son he'd never met, he wonders if he should make a journey to find his onlyson and bring him home.
